Once you have seen this movie nobody will ever forget a guy who stand outside a girl’s door with boombox with song in your eyes, that guy is John Cusack. Many feel and will feel this is teen romance, but lets face it this is crazy love. This movie is nostalgic for me the late 80’s sets and those haircuts, baggy coats and rock n roll music. Lloyd Dobler played by John Cusack an average high school student who really have no inkling of future and do not even have ambition to become big. He love kickboxing falls for school’s topper and unfitted student Diane Court played by Ione Skye.
John Cusack played Lloyd so smoothly he seems very confident, unaffected by his surrounding and nothing absolutely nothing stops him from loving Diana this is what she cant resist. No matter how i tell you about this movie you wont realise its magic unless and until you watch it. This is humorous and crazy for you kind of love story directed by Cameron Crowe. Joan Cusack has played Lloyd’s sister who is single mother, there are various other characters apart from lead characters who are brilliant too one of them is corey Lili Taylor.
Yes this is high school romance to leave you with butterflies in your stomach making you feel let it be my story. One of the thing to mention here is Lloyd’s and Diana’s first kiss is one of the best screen kiss it’s their first and feels like last, with little bit rain pouring, this makes great couple.I always like movies which contains characters that are like real people when you watch them on screen it dosent feel like they are acting its that genuine that makes these movies so great. This is the only way to address the issue people face everyday and make them feel what they actually feel. That’s how this movie is which makes it part of life
This movie has one of the best quotes so the lsit is long.
Lloyd Dobler: Why can’t you be in a good mood? How hard is it to decide to be in a good mood and be in a good mood once in a while?”
Constance: Gee, it’s easy.
Lloyd Dobler: One question: are you here ’cause you need someone, or ’cause you need me?… Forget it, I don’t care.
Lloyd Dobler: She’s gone. She gave me a pen. I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen.
Diane Court: Nobody thinks it will work, do they?
Lloyd Dobler: No. You just described every great success story.
Lloyd Dobler: I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.
Diane Court: I just can’t have any social life right now.
Lloyd Dobler: Don’t worry about it. We’re just having coffee. We’ll be anti-social.
Diane Court: Be friends?
Lloyd Dobler: Yeah. With potential.
Lloyd Dobler: I got a question. If you guys know so much about women, how come you’re here at like the Gas ‘n’ Sip on a Saturday night completely alone drinking beers with no women anywhere?
Joe: By choice, man.
D.C.: Lloyd, why do you have to be like this?
Lloyd Dobler: ‘Cause I’m a guy. I have pride.
Corey Flood: You’re not a guy.
Lloyd Dobler: I am.
Corey Flood: No. The world is full of guys. Be a man. Don’t be a guy.
Lloyd Dobler: How many of them really know what they want, though? I mean, a lot of them think they have to know, right? But inside they don’t really know, so… I don’t know ,but I know that I don’t know.
Lloyd Dobler: Just knowing that a version like that exists, knowing that just for a minute she felt that and wrote “I can’t help loving you”. That has be a good thing.
Cheers to the greatest, wittiest love story.
